DISABILITY AND ACCESS STATMENT
Due to the small dimensions of our shepherd’s hut and the fact that it is raised off of the ground, with access by means of steps it would not be practical to provide wheelchair access.
We have taken great care to design a site that is as accessible as possible, while maintaining the integrity of what a shepherds hut should be from a historically accurate perspective. The parking area has a large parking space and is easy to get into an out of. The Shepherds hut is close to the parking area and accessed by hard a natural compacted path providing a level surface to walk on throughout the year. The outside of the shepherd’s hut is compacted and gravelled to provide a solid standing. There is a metal hand rail on the left side of the steps to the hut for additional access support. SIÔR has three steps up to the hut door. Lighting is provided by the main door to the hut for clear visibility to access.
Guide and medical assistance dogs welcome and are exempt from any charges.
